One Fine Selection No. 39

This one is from Smokestack Relics, who offer up what they aptly describe as "dirty swamp rock from Colorado." With a driving hybrid of the crunch of the Delta Blues, the attitude and noise of the guitar-driven punk rock scene that once gave rise to bands like Dinosaur Jr., and strong (sometimes bordering on overwhelming) hints of their bluegrass and classic country roots, these guys have found their formula. And it's working.
"61 & 49" is the kind of song that someone might want to underscore their next car chase. It's a rolling blues anthem that seems to have taken the "Safe as Milk" era Beefheart legacy and run with it.
